Moving items from My Library into Project Folders - Moving not copying

Hi, I've started setting up my filing structure and placing my research docs into the various folders. However, everything seems to also be displayed in the 'My Library' folder. This is annoying as I don't need two copies of anything and what I have I need to keep filed in the relevant location.
Can you help please? I thought I should be able to click, lift and drop but that doesn't work.

These aren't two copies. It's the same item visible in different locations. My Library always contains a list of all items, so you can't change that.
