OSCOLA Journal abbreviation

Problem: OSCOLA like many other citations styles requires journal article references to be abbreviated in the footnote but written in full in the bibliography. It seems to make no difference if I tick or untick the 'Automatically abbreviate' box in doc preferences.

Please help. I'm sure it's been discussed before, but I just can't find it

Many thanks.

I don't see that requirement in OSCOLA (and I'm not aware of other citation styles with it). Best I can tell, OSCOLA allows authors to choose between abbreviations or full titles for journals and we're currently not abbreviating, based on discussions with the folks at Oxford and other users of the style.
  • Much obliged, I have just checked OSCOLA and you are indeed right, although my University does seem to think otherwise! Although, it would be useful for word count purposes.

    Many thanks.
