moving PDFs from Dropbox to Google Drive

I use Zotfile to store my PDFs in Dropbox, but I'm running out of space and would like to move them to Google Drive.

My settings are right now:

Zotero Preferences/Files and Folders tab/base directory: C:\Dropbox\Zotero
(actually doesn't work, files are only moved to the directory when I manually use Zotfile)

Zotfile Preferences/General settings tab/Use Firefox download folder AND location of file: Custom location
(this works)

Could someone advise me on how to move the directory to Google Drive without making a mess of things?

I tried changing the custom location in Zotfile Preferences and then renaming a file (and I can see it works for multiple files, so I could move my whole library at once). The PDF synced alright to the Google Drive/Zotero directory on my other computer, but not the link.

Would changing the base directory in Zotero Preferences/Files and folders to the Google Drive/Zotero directory on both computers do the trick?
  • The Zutilo plugin has a function to mass-change file paths for this sort of migration.
  • I think moving the files to a Zotero folder in Drive and changing the relative base directory to C:\[whatever that path to Google Drive is]\Zotero
and then setting up ZotFile to move new files to that directory should do the trick, no need to use Zutilo.
If something goes wrong, Zutilo can help to fix it, but shouldn't be needed in this case.
