[5.0 beta] Improve looks of right column?

Almost four years ago I opened this thread about improving the looks of the right column of Zotero:

Is there a possibility to implement at least a portion of this since the entire thing is being overhauled?

I agree but I'm not sure it's the priority for 5.0. Anyway, please keep the discussion in the original thread !

This isn't an official statement, but my sense is that there likely won't be any work on layout as long as Zotero is on the XULrunner platform, since the plan is to shift to Electron in the medium term anyway (which would then entail layout changes anyway).

Personally, for an interface to be maximally useful for making edits, I favor the current layout over one that is more visually 'clean' or attractive.
