start word document with citations only and then insert them in another word document

I am new to zotero. I would like to know whether it is possible to create an empty word document consisting only of citations like 1 2 3 4 5 and then transfer those into another word document. So one person could work with the text, the other person could create the citations. Afterwards the citations would be copied into the right position of the final text by copy paste.
  • I suppose so, but why do you want to do this? Why wouldn't you just insert the citations in the finished Word document using the Word add-on. That's hardly more time consuming that copy&paste.

I have two versions of a document. A more advanced version without citations and an older one with the citations and reference list already done, maybe two or three citations will be added. There were two people working on the document and now the documents have to be merged for the citations. I think it would be much less work to just copy and paste the citations to the correct place.
  • Yes, so long as the Zotero citations are live (not just plain text), you can copy-paste from one document to another.
  • for this, do I need to have the same zotero database imported into my zotero standalone application? Or does it work just as is?
  • This should work as is (select a citation style using "Set Document Preferences" in the target document first), but since you already have the documents, why not just try it?

It worked with the hint to use the citation style in the destination document. Thanx!!!
