Data file compression failed and the library is unrecognizable

I had to compress my locally stored files, but the compression went awry and I had to repair the file. After successfully unzipping the file, all my pdf's and attachments are visible using Finder. I can even open the pdf's. But Zotero will not recognize the file as a directory and my library appears empty. Any idea how to get Zotero to recognize it?
I promise I'll never compress the directory again.

    The key component of Zotero is a file called zotero.sqlite. Zotero will also create automatic back-ups called zotero.sqlite.bak or similar. The first thing to check would be what such files you're finding, when they were last modified, and what their size is. We'll be able to tell you more then.     Also, you never synced, i.e. when you click on "My Library" at the top of this page, you don't see your items?
