Custom item metadata

Hi

How can I create and manually add a custom field to item metadata?
For example, I want to add a new field to the journal metadata describing the data source or provider of journal. e.g. EBSCO or ProQuest ......

    You should store that in Library Catalog. This will get picked up by MLA and other styles that require that information.
