Backing My Library up to online and downloading the latest version

I have two quick questions for y'all: First, how do you back your library up online, and secondly, how do you download the update for the latest version? (and by the way, I use Zotero Standalone with the Chrome add-on)
I've been looking a lot into this the last few days as I just received a new computer and had to download Zotero all over again. Regaining my library would've been simple if I had saved all my articles online - but I didn't. Although my dad and I eventually found a way to transfer the libraries from one computer to another, I was wondering if there was any way to back up my library I have stored on my computer to the online version of Zotero so I would always be able to have easy access to it?
Secondly, since I installed Zotero on my new computer, I've been getting notifications for an update that's available. Every time I click the update button, a box appears saying "A recommended update is available, but you do not have the permission to install it. To update automatically, modify the Zotero program directory to be writeable by your user account." I have looked into changing these settings but I can't find them or any seemingly useful information regarding them (I've found a lot for Firefox, but not that much for Standalone).
Thanks so much!
