Automatically Convert Publication to Journal Abbr (in Metadata)

Help Needed to Automate Journal Abbr Metadata from Publication field Metadata.

To be clear, this is not a style issue for citations as the Word Plug-in can automate Journal Abbr when citing and creating bibliographies. Rather, I would really like to populate the Journal Abbr Metadata field automatically. Specifically, I use Zotfile (great Add-on!) to automatically move and rename attachments using the journal abbreviation as part of the filename: e.g., Ward et al. 2015 [J Quant Criminol] Disentangling self-control from.pdf.

I have found file name format keep me organized when I have numerous PDF journal articles open at one time. In addition, I prefer the 'Journal Abbr' to be displayed in the Zotero interface to work most productively (e.g., Creator, Year, Title, Journal Abbr, as well as Date Added, and the Attachment indicator). The problem is that I have been adding the 'Journal Abbr' for each article manually and, worse as I read across various disciplines, I often have to look up the ISI journal abbreviation to enter it, which really breaks the workflow. Is there a way to automatically convert the "Publication" field into the correct "Journal Abbr" field (not just when citing in Word but, specifically, in the Metadata in Zotero itself)?

Using 'publication' (or the full journal title) instead of 'Journal Abbr' does not work because filenames become unruly and I cannot really see the journal name in the Zotero interface without constantly resizing bars and such when the full name is displayed.

Any insights or solutions into this issues would be extremely helpful! Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
