Firefox pdf reader with annotation support

I'm using the Zotero add-on for Firefox together with the Acrobat Reader browser add-on for Firefox. I'm wondering if there is anyway in which I can add annotations, such as highlighting and comments, while viewing a pdf in the browser and still being able to save the document so that it syncs with my online library?

If I click on the "comment" option in the Acrobat Reader browser-viewer all options appear in grey and it seems like all I can do is to read the pdf. However, if I open the pdf with Acrobat Reader as an "external viewer" I get access to the annotation options. But the thing is that I want to avoid using the standalone Acrobat Reader and instead have everything in my web browser. Is this possible?

Why is it that I can't add annotations to the pdf while using the Acrobat Reader Firefox add-on? Is there any other pdf-reader that would allow me to add annotations while in the browser and still allow for (1) saving and synchronizing the edited pdf with my online Zotero library and (2) creating annotations that are extract able using ZotFile.
