Zotero pretty much stopped working

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no joy. I don't know if this is related to using the Chrome Connector, but I'm finding I can't do anything. I tried adding something from Chrome - no joy. I try opening a saved pdf - no joy "The attached file could not be found". I know it is there and I can access it through the web, but the software is doing nothing.

This is a new computer - is there perhaps something about the configuration I've got which is causing these issues?

For adding, we need more info (e.g., exact error message, example URL).

Hi - I installed Zotero Standalone on Windows 10 64-bit and imported my references. It starts up, but won't run, just reports "unresponsive". What do I need to do to fix this, please?

How many references did you import, and how long have you let it run after starting it up?

Hi Dan - around 22,000 references. The hang-up was immediate. How long should it run before useable?

It shouldn't take that long, but give it a few minutes just to see. (My guess is you have more items than you think, either with child items or in the trash.)

Zotero 5.0, which will be out soon, won't hang in this way during long operations.

just in case, since it sounds like you are transferring items between computers -- note that export/import is not the recommended way of transferring your library to a new computer:

I imported a BiBTeX file exported from Paperpile.

Thanks Dan, I followed your link, read around a bit more, found this one:

tracked down the file, got rid of it, it is currently syncing fine.
