Blue Screen of Death

When I use Zotero for an extended period of time, I get the Blue Screen of Death upon restarting. The error is: Bad-Pool-Data. My IT guys are saying it is due to Zotero. Any ideas how to fix this? If not, can I simply use the web based interface and use the cloud for all my PDF storage? I recently paid for a year subscription for unlimited cloud space and would hate have wasted that money on an incompatibility issue.

Thanks,

Perry
  • Zotero can't really cause BSODs. If this happened once, you are probably okay to ignore it. If you keep on getting BSODs, especially after keeping your machine on for a long time, there are likely more serious issues with it.
  • BSOD brings back memories of Windows (I am now on Ubuntu).
There are some troubleshooting tips here ...

Perhaps try running Windows in safe mode to see if it comes back?

    Hi Perry,

Did anything happen since you've asked for help here? I'm experiencing a very similar symptom. After I'm starting the Standalone version of Zotero (only after the update for 5.0) there is a guaranteed BSOD on two of my computers. I noticed, however, that when I'm switching off Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive there are less frequent BSODs. Don't you by the chance use one of these cloud storages?

Needless to say, when I'm not using Zotero my computers are stable.

    Thanks!
