Open-Source for Government users?

I have convinced my employer, a municipal water utility, of the benefits of Zotero for accessing our growing collection of academic research papers. To do so, I created a hidden Group under my own personal unlimited account, as a proof of concept. IT has given me the green light if I can get confirmation from Zotero as to whether or not I need a corporate account or if there are other rates/fees for a government entity. I have not been able to find an actual e-mail address to contact Zotero directly. I need something in writing. Help?

  • Could you specify what you need in writing? There are no special government rates for Zotero, neither lower nor higher than regular (mostly education/academic) rates.

If you just want a single group (or a bunch of groups) with the papers for the entire entity, you just need a single unlimited account -- Zotero doesn't care whether that's personal or "corporate". All other users would sign up with regular Zotero accounts that don't require pay.
There are institutional rates for Zotero: https://www.zotero.org/support/institutional_storage but from your descripion it doesn't sound like you need that.
  • Something like the text below sent to insculpta@gmail.com would do nicely:

    Dear Dr. Raymond Saumure:

This is to inform you that Zotero has no special government rates for use of the Zotero software, neither lower nor higher than regular rates. For a single group (or a bunch of groups) with the papers for the entire entity, you just need a single unlimited account -- Zotero does not care whether that's personal or "corporate". All other users would sign up with regular free Zotero accounts that don't require payment.

    Best Regards,

    Zotero

  • @sean -- can you guys do something like that?
