proquest citations not fully appearing in zotero

hello all,
I'm reasonably familiar with zotero for saving citations, but:
i have a problem importing citations from proquest (although not from other sources such as google scholar).
after saving to "my library" the title appears, but author and other info does not, and zotero recognizes the proquest site as a webpage, not a journal article.
I'd appreciate any advice....I'm using google chrome with standalone. from reading posts, it may be a translator issue, but i'm not certain where to go from here.
much appreciated,
van
  • we'd need a permalink for some of the ProQuest items in question. (Proquest should indicate "permalink" somewhere on the page.)
Also, the specific database you're searching and the title of the item would be helpful in case we don't have access.
  • Ok, thanks for the reply.

this is happening with all of my searches on proquest, not any specific title.

    http://proxy.wi.edu/login?url=http://search.proquest.com/search/1147990?accountid=25365

the database is PsychInfo, which I am accessing through my academic institution remotely.

    here is one title:
When death thoughts lead to death fears: Mortality salience increases death anxiety for individuals who lack meaning in life

again, it imports into zotero, but only with title info...

    thanks.
  • @zuphilip do you happen to have access? We get PsycInfo through EBSCO here.
  • Actually, our access to PsycINFO is also listed to be through EBSCO (this works fine) and I have also access trough ProQuest. The generic link is:

    http://search.proquest.com/docview/754143328

I tested this with Firefox and Chrome and I receive full details of the reference, i.e. I cannot reproduce the problem mentioned here. @adamsmith Could it be that the proxy is a problem for the ProQuest translator? How?
  • Yeah, we have a very limited PQ subscription, so I can't get to this. Generally speaking, with proquest in particular I'd be surprised if the proxy mattered, since we're scraping straight from the page.

@mr van -- could you, on that page, show the page source (that's typically ctrl+u but also available from a right-click menu in most browsers), select all, copy, paste to gist.github.com (you don't need an account) create private gist and post the URL here?
