JACS help

Hey community -

The current "Journal of the American Chemical Society" style in the repository seems outdated. For instance, the correct format should be:

Kumar, A.; Kim, S.; Nam, J.-M. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2016, 138, 14509–14525.

Currently the style outputs as:

Kumar, A.; Kim, S.; Nam, J.-M. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2016, 138 (44), 14509.

Can someone with more experience editing styles help a brother out?

Thanks!
AJ
  • I don't think the style is outdated. There are two differences here: page ranges instead of just the first page and the issue number vs. no issue number.

I don't see page ranges used neither in the ACS style guide nor in recent issues of JACS, so I'm pretty sure you're mistaken on that one.

For the issue number, the ACS guide says to print the issue number where journal volumes aren't continuously paginated. Zotero has no way of telling the pagination rules of a journal, so we err on the side of providing additional information.
  • Hi everyone,

I have the same problem as Adam.
For JACS, issues number needs to be removed. But this can easily be done (see: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/48400/journal-of-the-american-chemical-society-jacs-citation-error).
The annoying part though: for JACS communication, you just need the first page of the article your refer, whereas in the full paper, you need the full pages number. Can this be address in the style editor?

    Many thanks in advance,
    BR
