Refresh issues

The only problem that the latest version of Zotero is giving me is that the item list is not always refreshing properly. Sometimes when I add an item, whether manually or from a library page, it does not show up anywhere on the list. If I select another collection and then go back to my original collection, the items are always there, so I know they are being added properly. I've had this issue in other circumstances, too. For example, when I add a note to an item, the note initially shows up as a root item in the collection. Sometimes, even after it gets moved down below the reference under which I created it, it still shows up as a root item. Moreover, I can't delete it, because deleting it also deletes the properly-placed note under my reference. Eventually, these misplaced notes get straightened out (I haven't tested for exact circumstances).

These sorts of issues pop up occasionally, but they're hard to debug without specific steps to reproduce. Let us know if you can get something to happen consistently, noting the state of the tag selector, what type of view (library/collection/saved search) you're in, etc.

Note that these are almost always UI notification issues and go away either after switching collections or restarting Firefox.

This is happening to me also--pretty much every time I use it. Sometimes it will work OK for the first few additions to a collection, sometimes the problem starts immediately.

I turned off all my extensions to see if there was a conflict, but that did not help. Having the tag selector closed did not make a difference either. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.2 on XP.

I also get the first issue mentioned by drcoxton: ie. newly-added items not showing until I change away from a collection (ie. to a different collection or search), and then change back.

The consistent pattern for me is that the item appears instantly when added if the Zotero pane is showing, but not until I change out of and then back to the collection if the Zotero pane was hidden when the item was added. Tag selector state makes no difference, and it happens for any collection.


The only regular error appearing in the error console is of this form:

This error however shows up before the item is added (when the web page is rendered), and happens whether the Zotero pane is visible or not. There are no errors specific to when items are added.


I'm using Zotero 1.0.0b4.r2.r1365 under Firefox 2.0.0.3 on WinXP.
