Creating reference lists chapterwise in larger documents

edited November 12, 2016
Hi all,

I am sorry to start a new threat, but I did not find an answer anywhere to my problem.

Currently I am managing a large manuscript with many co-authors. I am taking all of their references into Zotero and the manuscript should have a separate reference list after each of the 15 chapters. I wonder if there is a way to create a "chapterwise" reference list in Zotero?

If I now create a reference list - say in chapter 3 - it would also integrate the references from chapter 1 & 2. Is there a way to get around this? Would be great to hear from anyone soon, since my deadline is running out soon:-( Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Stephan
  • I recommend that you produce each chapter as an individual document. You can have a reference list for each chapter/document. After each of the chapters have been finalized You can combine them into one document and create a bibliography that lists all of the cited works. Be sure to keep versions of each chapter with the Zotero field codes intact.
  • Or if you don't want a single reference list, just add the reference lists in the individual files, make a copy of each file (don't skip that step), remove Zotero field codes in all of those copies and paste them together into a single file.
  • Dear all,

thank you for your quick commentaries. Working with single documents and copying them around is, what I already found out. I thought there might be also an easier way (with something like a "start/stop" comment in the larger and combined document) that I did not find yet.

@Developers: Maybe this is some feature that could be included in a future version of Zotero?

So am going on with some copy&paste action.

    Best regards,

    Stephan
