slowdown as library on USB flash drive grows - why exactly?
Hello folks,
My Zotero library sits on a USB flash drive, which I access from regular (non-portable) Firefox installations at work and at home.
This was working fine with a handful of items but as the library grows saving or changing items is getting impractically slow. I'm wondering if this is due to (1) my flash drive getting full (300Mb left on 4Gb drive) or whether (2) the slowdown would happen due to the number of items even if there was a lot of space left. I have some 100 items in the library now, most of them with a bunch of html and pdf docs attached. There are also a lot of other files on the drive. Using USB 2.0, Firefox 3, Zotero 1.0.9.
If it's (1) a new flash drive would help; if it's (2) not. Anyone any experience with this issue? Thank you!
