Locating old files [Zotfile]

I realize Zotfile is a separate plugin, but as far as I can find many Zotfile questions are asked here so I hope this is the right place.

I switched computers and put my files in a different location (the new "Custom Location" is different from the old in the Zotfile Preferences). The old files can no longer be found. Also, strangely, the old files are in subdirectories Zotero_Data/storage/4A5INHMU/Filename.pdf whereas the new files are in Zotero_Data/Filename2.pdf. Is there an easy way that I can make Zotero recognize the files like Zotero_Data/storage/4A5INHMU/Filename.pdf (I have too many to click individually)? Thank you.

So for one, the old files look like they haven't been placed their by ZotFile at all -- those are standard Zotero storage locations (in a custom data folder).
How did you move the files to the new computer?

Yes, you are right. I moved the documents to the new directory and then entered its address in the "Custom Location". So new files since then have been placed in there properly (or as expected), but Zotero thinks the old files are still in the location of the old path. Is there a simple fix? Thanks
