Cleaning Up Personal Library

I have hit storage limit, and have deleted many unneeded items and folders, without seeming to affect things; the limit is still in effect. Is there a way to know the exact size of all of my items in storage, and, is there an extra step required after deleting files from the browser add-on window, such as using the "Purge" function in my account page?
  • You can check the size of the storage folder in your zotero data directory for an approximation of the amount of storage a full sync would be using:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
(sync uses a little less than the size of the folder).

As you delete items, make sure to not forget to empty the Zotero trash; only then will available storage be affected.

Also, note/remember that you only need storage for attachments, so you never need to delete items (unless, of course, you want to for organizational purposes). You can also disable file sync, if you don't need files syncs across different computers.

Thanks for the help. Got it figured out now .... just needed a refresher on how local storage relates to server storage. Emptied trash and re-synched.

Do have another question though ... when adding up number of items in server-based My Library, they're almost double what shows on my local directories. Does an item with one attachment on the server count as two items, whereas a PDF (for example) not attached but rather an item "itself" only counts as one? Not sure how to reconcile number of items in both places ....
