Linked file sync problem
I have Zotero standalone setup on a laptop and a desktop PC, with pdfs attached as links to items in my library and stored in Dropbox. To do this I have set the Linked Attachment Base Directory to ...\Dropbox\PhD. This has worked perfectly for months.
Now I have installed zotero standalone on a new laptop and set up everything identically. However, links to my files no longer work, on either this new laptop, or my desktop.
When trying to open an attachment, or requesting 'Show File' I get the following message:
"The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero"
Can anyone suggest why this might be?
By clicking 'Locate' at the error message I can manually set the link which works fine, but I don't want to have to do this for every item in my library!

So I now know that two things are going on
1. Most of my links are now absolute, rather than relative, and I have not asked them to be.
2. Even the absolute links are (mostly) not correct - instead of .../Dropbox/PhD/zoteroLit ... they point to .../Dropbox/zoteroLit instead.
Would the simplest solution be to change my file structure so all my files are in .../Dropbox/zoteroLit? Then somehow get zotero to make them relative again to the Dropbox folder so they will work on another machine (with different OS and file structure).
I'm very scared to make any changes in case things get screwed up even more. And I really don't understand how the links have changed from relative to absolute without me being asked - it's infuriating.
