Quota is full even though files are in dropbox?

I'm saving my PDFs on dropbox and not on Zotero Storage, but my Zotero account says the quota of 300MB was reached! Why is that? Do I need to purchase more storage even though I'm saving my files on Dropbox?
Thanks in advance!

  • You can disable Zotero file sync from the sync tab of the Zotero preferences.
But if you do get attachments syncing to Zotero and using Dropbox, there's a good chance you have your data directory in Dropbox, which is strongly discouraged and likely to lead to database corruption.
  • Thanks. I left the data directory as is, not in dropbox.
However, I'm saving my files to dropbox using zotfile, and only the links of these files are attached to Zotero items, so the PDFs themselves are not supposed to be saved to Zotero Storage. Is saving the PDFs on dropbox this way taking from my Zotero Storage quota?
  • No, my guess is that the storage quota is filled by HTML Snapshots, which ZotFile doesn't move.
  • Ok thanks Adam!
