What happened to "Scanner for Zotero"?

I used to have "Scanner for Zotero." After changing phones that app has disappeared, and I can no longer find it online. Is it still available anywhere? The two apps that say they scan for Zotero do not work. "RefMe" scans and sets up references, but I have found no way to export the references directly (or even indirectly) into Zotero. "BibUp" scans and sends results to a temporary online file, but the methods for exporting into Zotero do not work. Both of these apps are a techie's view of beauty, but are completely user unfriendly. Scanner for Zotero, on the other hand, was simple and reliable. It had no extra steps to exporting data. It was a user's view of beauty in an app.
  • the developer didn't have time to maintain it anymore (and it was broken, albeit only slightly) and removed it from the app store. I have the code base --yay open source!-- and generally intend to fix&revive it, but I've been intending this for about a year now so...

For anyone else who wants to have a go, source code is here: https://github.com/jmschanck/Scanner-For-Zotero
  • I'm on my knees begging! :)

I programmed in the old days, but am completely out of it now, otherwise I'd be happy to help. But, if you need someone to test it once (and if) you get it working, I'd be happy to do that.

    Thanks for the response.

  • @adamsmith may I ask whether you can provide the source code anywhere? @jmschanck's github account is offline, as it seems.

  • of course: https://github.com/adam3smith/Scanner-For-Zotero
It'd be cool if someone would work on this. I think the app itself should still work completely, you just need to update the API calls (and could even just specify an older version in the calls rather than update to v3) and the authentication.
