Thanks for the help, I am really frustrated that Zotero is not working. Charles

    From your other message, I understand that you are using FF 64-bit. I suspect that is the problem. FF plug-ins/add-ons for that version seem to have different requirements than the 32-bit version. There is much discussion about this issue in the support fora of many other programs and also this Zotero forum (search for 64-bit or for Firefox 64).

    no, I doubt this is 64-bit Firefox. This looks like a permission issue, either caused by missing write permissions to you Zotero data folder or by security software.
