Zotero standalone installed in a new laptop won't sync

I installed Zotero standalone in my new laptop, typed in my ID and pw and clicked the sync button (and the sync options are ON) but it won't sync. The sync dialogue that pops up shows the empty local library and two other options that are grey and cannot be selected.

I can see all my saved paper info on my online library. Is there any way I can sync, or somehow export the data from the online library in the form that can be imported in my standalone version?

Thank you!

I'm not sure what you're describing here — maybe a conflict resolution window, but that would be for a specific item (e.g., "Zotero Quick Start Guide"), and you'd be able to choose the one you wanted and click Next/Finish. If you want, you can take a screenshot, upload it to a free file-sharing service, and provide a link here.

If you're sure you have everything you want online, you can use "Restore from Zotero Server" from the Sync -> Reset pane of the Zotero preferences. That shouldn't be necessary for a new installation, though.
  • Thanks Dan! It resolved the problem.

From the conflict resolution window, I used "Restore from Zotero Server" even though the window indicated that there is nothing in the server (as I said, the server actually has my library when accessed via web browsers). It took me some courage, but after all it worked!
