References in VANCOUVER style

I am preparing a paper for PLOS ONE, a journal requiring use of VANCOUVER reference style.

When I use the VANCOUVER style in Zotero, the bibliography is OK but the references in the text appear as numbers between parentheses (i) while PLOS One requires numbers between brackets [i]. How can I automatically obtain brackets ?

If you look online for the extended listing of styles, you will find a Vancouver with square brackets. I am on a tablet that won't let me fetch the URL for you but that should be easy to find via the Zotero documentation pages. That is the style I use for writing manuscripts.

PLoS ONE specifically has its own style in the repository:

How would you remove brackets entirely for the citations? So that it just displays a number and not number in brackets? Thanks

Hi everyone. I'm having a similar problem but am not able to fix it following the above advice - how to change ( to [. I'm publishing the Journal for Human Resources for Health and using a pretty old version of Word. Any suggestions?
