Missing bibliography citations?

Hi all,

I hope I'm in the right section. I have a word document in which I have a bunch of zotero references and bibliography. However, when I open it and try to edit that bibliography/citations/move them to another word document, it says they don't exist. Exact error "you must insert a citation to perform this action", even though I can clearly see the citations are still in zotero format (not stripped to text).

I looked at my synced library, and only a few of the references from this document are in their corresponding collection, which I may have even added later. I have a terrible suspicion that I wrote this document on a previous work computer and somehow the library collection didn't sync properly to survive the transfer.

Is there any way to get the existing bibliography in the document exported back into my zotero library so that it's active again? I don't fancy manually adding back in another 50+ references, when I can *see* them in zotero format in their previous document.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried browsing around the forums, but apologies if I've already missed this answer.
