Workflow iOS dropbox 'liquid paper'

I'm looking for the most straightforward way to coordinate this workflow, and I'm running into a lot of confusing information.

I have a big complicated document I'm writing with Scrivener. I consult a lot of pdfs while writing. All my pdfs are stored in the Zotero Cloud.

Recently I started working mostly on an iPad. One of the reasons for this is the fairly new app called Liquid Paper which allows a flexibility in annotating pdfs that I haven't found before. On my iPad I pull in a pdf (right now, a pdf that I have no yet added to Zotero), annotate it in Liquid Paper, and save those annotations to my research files within Scrivener.

What I would hope to be able to do is to pull a pdf from the Zotero cloud onto the iPad, open it with Liquid Paper, make the annotations, send them off to Scrivener, and then close the pdf and let it go back to the Zotero cloud.

I had a quick look to see about Zotero apps for iOS and I am unclear on how widely used (aka, reliable) the available apps are.

Any thoughts, suggestions, directions would be much appreciated. Thank you.
  • For your use case, the Zotfile plugin (for desktop Zotero) has a Send to Tablet feature that should work well. The Zotpad iPad app will also work currrently, but it hasn't been updated in years and will probably stop working once Zotero 5.0 is released. You could try the PaperShip app, but I've never tried to annotate in a different app with this one, so I'm not sure how well that works.
  • bwiernik -- thank you for jumping in. I'll give Zotfile a try.
