Handeling stored pdfs

Hi all,

I copy my attachments (pdf-files mainly) to the entry in Zotero. When the day come and I annotate a pdf, should I re-copy it to the item, or would pressing save in the simply be ehough, and the document in Zotero is magically updated?

In more general terms the question would be, how are attachments changed by an external application handled by Zotero?

when you open the pdf from within zotero the annotations will be saved. Zotero just stores the pdf in a folder and refers to it. It doesn't actually do anything with them.
Obviously you cannot change the title of the pdf or Zt. won't find it anymore.
