How to clean up storage folder?

I haven't been able to find this addressed anywhere in the forums. I've noticed that when I delete something from my library, zotero keeps its old data in the storage folder. For example, my library is empty but my storage folder is still 50MB. I don't want to delete files manually because the storage hierarchy isn't human readable. How can I get zotero to do it?

These files are removed from my WebDAV server when I do a "purge orphaned storage files", but they aren't removed locally.
  • Associated files in 'storage' should be deleted when you empty the trash. What platform are you on? Does this happen for new attachments you create and delete?
  • Hmm...I just tried importing and deleting some attachments and it worked as you said. It looks like the stale data is coming from a previous import/delete. I've been messing around with the new sync functionality to see which of my files are causing sync to fail, so this could be a result of that. I'll see if I can reproduce it.

I did notice that the sqlite file seems large for an empty db (2.3 MB). Maybe an aborted sync caused it to keep links to the files even though it is not showing them in zotero?
