Collaborative real-time editors that support Zotero?

Hi, I'm looking for a collaborative real-time editor that can work with Zotero.
Google docs' workaround seems a bit complex for me, I wonder if there is any other option?
Thanks!
S.
  • You could check out Authorea or Overleaf. They both have some type of Zotero integrations. IMO Overleaf's Zotero integration is better, but Authorea has the simpler overall model since they moved away from LaTeX. I think you can test both for free, though seriously use requires a subscription.

Microsoft Word 2016 (when the file is stored in OneDrive) also works well with both Zotero and real-time updating from collaborators.
  • Thank you!
Can I add Zotero to Word online's add-ins like in the desktop MS-Word version?
  • You can use the same workaround as with Google Docs, but there is no add-in for Word Online like the desktop Word. You could, of course, manually type placeholders into Word Online, then add the live citations in Word desktop at the end.
  • I haven't used Word as a real-time editor, but my understanding is that you'd use regular, "desktop" Word with Files stored in OneDrive and that latter part converts Word into a real-time editor. I don't believe you can install add-ins to Word online
  • Great, Thanks!
Right now Authorea seems to be indeed the simplest solution to collaborate together with Zotero, as we don't use LaTeX-based documents.
