in text citation format

I am new to using zotero
I cannot determine how to change the format of an in-text citation

presently in my document the in text portion shows as a superscript

I need to change it to brackets (i.e. words words [1])

Using OOo3 and Zotero1.5 any help appreciated - just trying to submit an article
