[export] difference between "BibLatex" and "Bibtex"

What exactly is the difference between exporting as "BibLatex" or "Bibtex"?
Shouldn't it be the same?

    no. Those are different, if related, things. Standard bibtex engines do not understand -- and in some cases understand differently -- much of BibLaTeX. BibLaTeX is defined in the manual of the same name. BibTeX follows our best interpretation of the standard, which is somewhat less clear.
