Need to Copy My Zotero Bibliogaphy Files from laptop w/Windows 7 to a Windows 10 laptop

I have a Windows 7 laptop that I need to copy specific files relating to my Zotero bibliography from, to a laptop that is a Windows 10. I need the user files only, since I have the program already on the Firefox browser and on Word 2013. Since I am only interested in getting my bibliography files from the Windows 7 laptop to the Windows 10. Can you tell me which specific files that I would need to copy?

Did I provide enough info?

  • Tell me Dan, if I have Zotero already installed on the Windows 10 laptop, can I install the portable application over it?

And, how does the portable pick up that you have a library already?

  • By "portable" do you mean Zotero Standalone or a portable edition of Firefox? If you mean the former, the second version of Zotero you install on a system will prompt you to use the existing data directory. You can always change later in the preferences.
  • Zotero in my browser ended up in reverse alphabetical order, while this is not a bother, I was wondering is there any way to reverse it where "A" shows up at the top of the window and Z entries wind up at the bottom?
  • You can click the top of any column to reverse the sort order.

    Is the Standalone version portable?

I copied the folder into my USB, and it worked properly.
If I use Zotero this way, isn't there any problem?
  • I want to copy whatever files necessary from one laptop to another both with Windows 10 to get my library off of the laptop that has it; however, one is a built-in Windows 10 system, the other system I had to install it as a Windows 10 system, if it makes any difference. The browser is Firefox. Can you send me the link with the instructions or give me the shortcut. Thanks.

  • It's the same link I provided above.
