Plagiarism checks

Is there a way to cross-check documents in a Zotero library for plagiarism?

I'd like to check all of my documents in sequential order, one-time online (e.g. no need to back cross-check earlier documents when they forward-checked on the way down) for blatant and even likely plagiarism at the sentence or even phrase level, and get a report.

Bonus points if I can compare one library folder to another.

Is that possible?
  • no. While possible to do this as an add-on to Zotero, I suppose, I don't think there's a lot of synergy between reference managment and plagiarism detection, so I think if someone wants to invest the energy, it's probably better as a standalone tool (but that's just my opinion -- obviously any developer can make up their own mind).
  • I thought this might be the case. It makes perfectly good sense. Still, I had a small hope it might be available already since I can't be the first person to want/need this.

Thanks a million for your prompt response.
  • You might be able to create a decent workflow combining a separate plagiarism tool with Zotfile. You can use Zotifle's Send to Tablet feature (which really just places attachments in a specific folder and then later retrieves them) and then use the other tool to analyze the documents (if you can find a tool that can analyze an entire folder on your operating system at once). This way, you can use Zotero's organizing features efficiently with the other tool's detection features.
