in text citetation

I really enjoy using zotero, however i have a concern. When I citing and begin to my sentence, According to xxxx "direct quotation"(p.x). Can I do this with zotero?

Thanks
  • which citation style are you using? For most styles (pretty much all but MLA) you'd want the publication year in there somewhere, no?
  • I use APA 6 ed.

this is an enxample sentence I tried and cant unless I do it manually

According to Embree, Bruner, & White, (2013) “up to 90% of nurses experience lateral violence” (p.1).

When I type according to +click insert citation = According to (Embree, Bruner, & White, 2013) which is not I do want.
  • Type out the authors and use suppress author. Details here:

  • Thanks, It would be nice if authors name come automatically.
  • Zotero seems easy to adjustable, do you think is there any way make this changes? I feel its not only me using this type of citatation..
    Thanks
  • no, it's actually quite hard.
To get a sense of the types of issues, note that your example above is actually incorrect. According to APA style, while (Embree, Bruner, & White, 2013) is correct, when authors are part of the text you should not use the ampersand, i.e. "According to Embree, Bruner, and White (2013)."

There are a number of similar issues. I'd like to eventually see this solved, but it won't be quick and it's not easy.
  • thank you
  • Hi everybody, I do not have any experience editing styles. When I have two authors in a citation I need an ampersand between them (like Li & Mason 1995). But when I have multiple authors I need (Li et al. 1995). Which style accomplishes this?

If there is no such predefined style which one should I edit and how?

    thanks much,
