Would it be better if we could not add records to the root directory?

I wonder if it would be better if it was not possible to enter records in the root directory (My Library)? When one has a large number of records (references) in ones zotero database it becomes difficult to spot a record accidental added to the My Library collection. I feel it is better to force the user to add records only to Collections. In other words "My Library" should not be a collection but should only display what is in all the collections.

What do others think?

Hmm ... I believe that's what it is now!

Click on a collection, save some article metadata from the location bar. That item will appear both in that collection, and also in your "library."
  • I think you can accomplish the same sort of goal by creating an advanced search for items not in a collection. You can see two approaches for that here. To make this a bit easier it would probably make sense to add "is none" to the drop down for advanced searchs for collections.

    There's a ticket for this.
