Shared Library - Pay for the Right Size, not size of my library

I'm trying to set up a shared group for a project with another person. I have already a 12 GB zotero library. My guess is that the library for this shared group will be 2 - 5 GB, well beyond the free allocation but only a fraction of my existing library.

As I understand it, because the way zotero shares space between my existing library and the shared library, I would need to buy 'unlimited storage' to set up this shared group. (More than 6 GB is 'unlimited'.)

This makes no sense to me.

I don't mind paying for the size of the shared library, but why do I need to buy the size necessary to share my entire library, even though I just want to share a smaller portion of the library?

There are probably some workarounds, like setting up a separate new library and switching between the two. Or I could have my coworker buy the library space as he is new to zotero and has a relatively small personal library. Both are bad options for me.

Any explanation or suggestions on how to fix this?

In my ideal world, I'd get to choose how to use the storage space I buy -- I could allocate 20% to my library and 80% to the shared material, for example.

I'd love to support zotero with real $$, but this gives me real pause.

Thanks...
  • It's not quite clear to me what you're after:
    - If you want to sync files in your personal library, you need unlimited storage anyway
    - If you don't want to sync files in your personal library, you can simply turn file sync off for your personal library and just sync the group libraries, which will leave you under 6GB

    Or what am I missing?
