Migration from JabRef
Hello folks,
I really like the 1-click add feature in Zotero, so I'm exploring migration from JabRef using my JabRef bib file.
Two issues came up and I wonder if folks could point me in the right direction?
1) I have an existing folder structure of PDFs and I'd like to keep as-is. It seems like the paths are already saved as relative paths by JabRef. For example, in a Bibtex field like this:
file = {filename.pdf:2016/3/filename.pdf:PDF},
Is there a way that Zotero can just use this field to set a file link to the location where the file currently is now?
If I import with ZotFile active, it does its renaming and placing in a new folder (in a new location via the ZotFile preferences). If I import without ZotFile, Zotero imports to the storage location (the default).
2) Timestamps. It would be neat to keep all my existing timestamps (I'd like to use them to set the Zotero last added/modified). JabRef already stores them in a Bibtex field like this (exact format configurable within JabRef):
timestamp = {2016.03.19}
I saw the solution referenced from here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/50759/keep-timestamp-when-importing-from-bibtex/
but I don't think this will work since I don't have a Mendeley database. Can anyone think of a quick solution to this? I asked the BetterBibtex translator forum but they said they can't access the Last Added/Modified field to change it.
Thanks in advance

This is an old discussion that has not been active in a long time. Before commenting here, you should strongly consider starting a new discussion instead. If you think the content of this discussion is still relevant, you can link to it from your new discussion.
1) is pretty frequently requested and I'd love it to work (as would Zotero devs afaik), but there's no one currently working on it.
2) is a much rarer request, I don't think that's terribly likely to happen.
I would pitch in to try and add these, if only had the skills :)
Cheers,
Jeff
