Been getting a "Error connecting to server. Check your internet connection" error message when syncing with Zotero server. This has happened in different machines while enjoying perfect internet connection with other apps.

    This is almost always due to either
    - network configuration, specifically a proxy that invalidates SSL connections
    - software that intercepts SSL connections, which in most cases is security software but can also be a virus

    This message actually isn't usually about the security certificate — that's usually a different error. This one is usually due to incorrect proxy settings or security software, so disable your system proxy settings (if you're not using a proxy) or correct them (if you are), and if that doesn't work try temporarily disabling security software.
