[SOLVED] Import Zotero Citations from OpenOffice Document

Hi, everyone.

I'm hoping someone might be able to save my butt. I have several documents, all of which had a bibliography inserted by Zotero. I believe that I selected the option to actually save the bibliography data itself in the document. When I hover over a citation with my cursor, I see a load of encoded data (possibly in JSON format).

I've had some computer problems and ended up installing Windows from scratch. I thought I'd grabbed all of the data I needed to allow me to reinstall Zotero and get my bibliography data back. However, I was wrong...

Since the data is in those documents, is there any way to import that back into Zotero? It took me weeks to build the database and insert all the citations in the right places, and I'd really like to avoid having to do it all again.

Please could someone tell me if there's any way I can pull this data back into Zotero from an OpenOffice document?

Many thanks in advance.
  • I'm sorry, I only just noticed there were categories on this forum. As a result, I think I might have posted in the wrong forum.
  • (you can move your post to a different cactegory by editing your first post --there's a dropdown on the left).
  • Done, thanks! :)
  • Nothing great. You can see if this: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/35987/import-old-zotero-bibliography-from-word-field-codes-still-present-into-library/#Item_8 works (note that MLZ is now called juris-m, there's a link further down that thread). But that's all there is currently (other than exctracting the JSON -- which Zotero can import -- via a script from the .odt file, which is certainly possible, but does require some scripting abilities).
  • I had installed Juris-M (being prepared to parse this data out with a script if I had to), signed into Zotero, and THEN discovered I had already signed up for an account, and all my data was synchronised with the server.

    Ta-da! Awesome!

Many thanks for your help. (I'm such an muppet...)
