Upgrade Storageimport to specific collection

I am relatively new to Zotero. I have migrated 6000+ citations from Endnote, with collections, and have the library working fine.
When I go to import a RIS file containing a citation, the documentation says it should go to a specific new collection named with the date of the import. It instead creates a new collection based on the name of the first author it appears.
Is there anyway to set Zotero to put all newly imported items into a collection of my choosing, like "New"?
