Upgrade Storagesyncing makes firefox not respond

This is a reopening of the problem at 864305337, dealt with by Dan Stillman.
Having refreshed firefox, I can't get Zotero to work. When I open it and try to use it it makes firefox hang, whereas firefox works fine when Zotero is not open. The sync arrow is either turning or stuck with a symbol of how far it has got.
