error in unicode?

Hello

I tried to insert this book (http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/174710457&referer=brief_results) into my library. The Firefox setting recognizes is as a unicode page, and displays the name Joüon, correctly. (3rd letter is a u with two dots, umlaut) When I click on the blue icon to insert it in zotero. It is displayed as Joüon (with the 3rd letter wrong) while I tried the zotero preferences on UTF8 (standard) unicode, and auto detect.

U use ubuntu 8.10. FF3.0.5, zotero 1.5-sync3.6
  • I think the problem is with the website, though I could be mistaken. The span tag that includes the bibliographic data includes the following:

    aulast=Jou%CC%88on

    If you look up what those two hex codes represent, you get:

    Ì    Ì   %CC   Ì    Capital I, grave accent
    ˆ                    %88        Unused

    This leads me to think they're simply encoded wrong.
  • The RIS file appears to be messed up on their end. Open it as UTF-8 and you'll see that it contains the same characters Zotero is displaying ("¼"), which are the characters that you get when UTF-8 "ü" is interpreted as Latin-1.
  • thanks. I thought worldcat was good... :)
