Deleting in-text citations

I'm using the word plugin 3.5.4, and I know this is a silly question, but I cannot workout how to delete in-text citations. Does anyone know the process? In the previous versions of the plugin it was just going into the add/edit citation button and pressing cancel. Doesn't seem to work in the new version of the plugin. Thank you for your help:)

You can just delete the text of the citation. The entry from the bibliography/footnotes will disappear the next time Zotero refreshes the document (add/edit another citation or cluck the refresh button).

Thank you! I used to use Endnote, and because of that I was under some illusion that you couldn't just delete when I started using Zotero:)

Also, you can cancel out of the current version of the plugin dialogue with the Escape key.
