New Samsung Ativ Notebook wWindows 10

Need to transfer bibliography files to new laptop. I do not have firefox installed on it yet.

First: Can I install my current bibliography on the new laptop under IE and if so how?

Second: If I download Firefox under Windows 10 can I get the current bib on the new laptop, if so do I copy the old firefox data on this old laptop to the new laptop after downloading the Zotero program for Windows 10 and Word 2013?

  • 1. You can install Zotero Standalone on your laptop and that will work fine for your bibliography, but you'll be pretty limited with respect to importing items (there's only https://www.zotero.org/downloadbookmarklet ), so I'd recommend using another browser -- can be Firefox, can be Chrome -- and install the Zotero extension there for full functionality.

  • Ok, then if I download Firefox or Chrome for the program and its extensions into 2013 Word, your kb link for the instructions is all that I will need?

  • I have copied my entire Firefox profile on a flash drive. Please tell me how I can copy this profile from drive D (flash drive) to drive C (computer drive) so that I can see the profile I had on the old machine included in with the default profile in Firefox's Profile Manager?
  • Let me explain the above again with my apologies. I have copied my entire Firefox profile from the old laptop via a flash drive, so that all of my old Firefox profile is on that flash drive. How do I get my library and/or entire Firefox profile copied on the new laptop so that when I run the Firefox Profile Manager I will see it in there and be able to choose the old profile?
  • find the profile directory of the Firefox installation on your new computer -- that's the folder that has a random string, then a dot, then a name ("default" by default), i.e. will be something lik dfjxi234.default

Replace the contents of that folder with the corresponding content from your old profile and you're all set.
  • Thanks! So far what I did was to take and copy the zotero.sqilte (sp?) and the storage files to the new computer. It appears that I have captured my library. Is there anything I am missing?
  • no, that's all you need.
