Zotero Standalone library disappeared. Yes, I'm yet another one.

Hi there,

I'm running a windows 8.1 machine with Zotero standalone, Word (Office365 Pro Plus) and ff 42. Extension-wise I am running extensions to chrome and firefox, along with connectors to Word and LibreOffice, though I haven't used LibreOffice with it. I also installed and configured Zotfile, which has been working well through Firefox. I haven't been using it with Chrome lately so not sure how that's going.

Anyway, this morning I opened my library to do a little maintenance. I just turned in a paper, so I wanted to dump everything related to that project into a collection. I went to file/new collection and entered a name for it, clicked okay, and was sent back to the Zotero Standalone pane, but it was empty. No collection, no files that had just been there. Help? I did create an error report, #1148529303. I haven't done anything else except copy all the files from C:\Users\cynthia\AppData\Roaming\Zotero\Zotero\Profiles\2gqk4fmf.default\zotero to another folder.

I appreciate any guidance you can provide, since I have another paper to start on today and I really want to be able to depend on Zotero.

Thanks,
Mel
  • What is the site of the file zotero.sqlite in C:\Users\cynthia\AppData\Roaming\Zotero\Zotero\Profiles\2gqk4fmf.default\zotero
and what is the size of any zotero.sqlite.bak files in that folder?

Have you restarted Zotero since experiencing that error?
  • If you meant to ask the size of the zotero.sqlite file, it's 6720kb. There is a .bak at the same size, and another at 6624k.

I have restarted Zotero, and I just have a blank pane.

    Thank you!
  • OK, that's not an empty database, so that's good. What _exactly_ do you see in Zotero? Do you still see all three panes? Do you see the "welcome to Zotero" document or nothing at all?
  • Phew. Okay so I rebooted my computer, and my files are back. Idk. Thank you for looking into it for me!

    Have a great day.
