Cannot start Zotero standalone

I am getting this error message when I attempt to start Zotero

Have I lost all my documents? How can I recover data? How can I get Zotero to start?

Please advise
  • have you tried restarting your computer? Is your database in a custom location like Dropbox or a Network folder (you'd have to have set this up specifically, so if you don't know, the answer is almost certainly no).
  • it has been restarted many times. The installation is a regular install of the stand alone version. What does the error message mean?
  • It's not much help by itself. Please generate real-time debug output for a failed startup attempt and send it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread:
