Style request for ‘Histopathology’
Hi, could somebody please help me with a citation style for histopathology (Online ISSN: 1365-2559)?

The Journal’s reference style: modified Vancouver used by the NLM in Index Medicus.
-Up to six authors are allowed in the reference list.
-More than 6 authors, only the first 3 authors should be listed, followed by et al.

I've had this a few times now, so I'll ask.
Comparing actual papers with their guidelines it doesn't match, but it is a consistent style throughout their papers. It's minor differences, but it's these little things that make it a different style or not. What should I follow here?

The only exception are very specific formatting requests -- e.g. some journals want authors to submit reference numbers in square brackets, even though they get turned into superscript numbers on typeset.
