Attachments not opening

When I try to open pdfs attached to items I get a window come up asking 'Enter name of file to save to' with standard browse windows of my computer. This happens when I try to open attachments from Zotero in firefox, and if I go to my library on the Zotero website. I understood my pdf files were saved on the Zotero Server (I have 2GB storage and about 400MB used).

I am using a PC with Windows 7 and Firefox. I use Zotero plug in version. Have used it for a couple or years and my pdf attachments have just opened in the past.

I'd really appreciate some advice and explanation if possible as if I come to not trust that I will always be able to access these files, or that they could just disappear, then I will be tempted to move everything onto my C drive which could make using Zotero less appealing.

What happens when you use right-click, open in external viewer?

Ah, yes that does work. Thank you.
Is there a reason that just clicking on it no longer works that way?

It's something about your Firefox settings. You could try see if you can play with the settings for pdfs in preference-- applications

So right, so easy. I just changed setting from 'save' to 'preview in Adobe' and it works as I'd want it to.
